PRD project workshop – Guangzhou 2009

"Urban Informality in PRD – The state, key actors, determinants and trends"

23.11.20009, 9am - 5.30pm
School of Geography and Planning, Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou

After the yearly colloquium in June in Dortmund, where the projects reported on their progress in mainly their first phase, the aim of this Guangzhou workshop is to communicate our latest findings, to diagnose existing challenges, and to exchange and discuss ideas for future research. The overall title “Urban Informality in PRD – The state, key actors, determinants and trends” reflects the idea of looking for project and discipline overarching ‘variables’ that shape the informal phenomena in PRD.

The project teams are invited to give a short (maximum 10-15 minutes) presentation covering:

  1. Where are we? Which new insights, findings and results do we want to present that are relevant and interesting for the work of the other projects?
  2. Where do we go? What are our plans for the coming year/research phase?
  3. Going together? Where could we imagine (and would we welcome) possible linkages with other projects/individual researchers?

These presentations can be in powerpoint, but please do also prepare (max. 12) A4-printouts with the central issues that can then be put on the “board of ideas” (alternatively you can also send your .ppt or other document to HE Shenjing or Harald Sterly for printing).
