Megacities-Megachallenge

Diagram Urban Turn

The Urban turn. In 2007/2008, for the first time there will be more people living in cities than in rural areas - a dramatic change in human history. The projected global population increase between 2000 and 2030 will be mostly happening in the urban areas of developing countries.

Megacities - according to various definitions cities with more than 5, 8 or 10 million inhabitants - are particularly important in the global urbanization processes. This is an offline presentation of the Priority Program "Megacities-Megachallenge - Informal Dynamics of Global Change", funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
