Dhaka 1: Urban Livelihoods and Functionality of the City
The central research issue was the public urban space in informal settlements and the question of its functionality. Being a key factor to sustainable urban growth, the interface between statutory planning and ‘social regulation’ or informal planning at the grass-roots level was explored and future growth scenarios were developed.

Dhaka 2: The Megaurban Food System of Dhaka/Bangladesh
The project aimed at understanding the functioning of Dhaka's food system and evaluates challenges to its resilience and to food security in terms of availability, accessibility and affordability of food. A special emphasis was put on the better understanding of the interfaces of formal and informal subsystems.

Dhaka 3: Dhaka-INNOVATE
DHAKA-INNOVATE centred on the informal settlements of Dhaka and focuses on three subtopics and their interrelations: 1. socioeconomic development, limitations, and improvement strategies; 2. on climatologic and air pollution effects from local to global scale and 3. public health issues related to socioeconomics, climate and air pollution.

Dhaka 4: Dhaka-Hazard
Dhaka-Hazard focused on the local impacts of climate change and the vulnerability and resilience of poor urban communities against flooding events.
